 A. Can couples monitor donations made by guests? Yes. When you register you set your own password and, once you're sent your gift list number (which happens automatically by e-mail), you can log onto your section of the website and look at donations made and messages left by your guests.
Here you'll also be able to see total donations to each charity.
B. Can we make up our own selection of charities from those on the service? Yes you can.
When you register you van either select any of the pre-set up groups of charities and gifts or, if you like, pick the charities and gifts individually - around 6 charities will give a great selection for your guests but you can choose as few (2 upwards) or as many as you like.
C. When do couples get their certificate?
To allow for donations being made after the wedding (which we find often happens) we wait several weeks before sending out your certificate. If you're keen to get it quickly just drop us an email.
D. Do guests pay any charges over and above the donation amount?
There are no extra charges for guests.
If a guest selects a £20 gift, they'll pay just £20, and we pass that £20 onto the charity. We don't charge your guests extra for credit card charges or gift cards (or anything else for that matter) meaning that all of what they spend actually gets to the charity.
E. Who processes our guests transactions?
We use Secure Trading, the UK's leading independent internet payment service provider (they provide online donation services for the Disasters Emergency Committee for appeals such as the Asian Tsunami appeal). Your guests will be able to pay online without delay (for example, there's no need for them to pre-register, e.g. for a PayPal account).
F. Do guests get a receipt for their donations?
Guests get an e-mail receipt confirming the gift(s) selected and a seperate e-mail from Secure Trading confirming that the transaction has been processed.
G. I've not received an e-mail confirming my donation.
It could be that the e-mail address you entered was incorrect. Just drop us a note at customercare@giveit.co.uk and we'll be able to re-confirm the details for you.
H. Do charities pay anything to be part of the service?
Participating charities aren't asked to pay any kind of upfront annual subscription or other ongoing charges. All costs of the service are covered by the Gift Aid claimed back from the Inland Revenue, meaning that 100% of your guests' donations really DO get to the charity.
